Racing for Jesus

« on: April 29, 2009, 09:43:22 am »

Rebuilt a race prepared 700 transmission. As I put the new input shaft needle bearings in, the outer bearing (pulley side) slid in with no effort. I thought it would be fine but it moved and destroyed the oil seal. Did I get a bad bearing, or is the case wallowed out? Either way, how can I correct this? Thanks, Brian

Case is wallered out. Only way to fix it is make a spacer to go between the bearing to keep them from walking towards each other. I have done this a couple times with good success

I had read where you said to make the spacer. But the outer (pulley side) bearing moved AWAY from the inner bearing thus destroying the seal. Should I go ahead with spacer the use red Lock:censored:e to keep it in place or make a sleeve to go in case? Thanks, Brian

If it is that wore out then you prolly need to find another bottom case.
